Cumann na mBunscol Exhibition Game 2025

Both our boys and girls had a great day out in McHale Park on Sunday 2nd February 2025. They were invited to play in the Cumann na mBunscol exhibition game at half-time during the Mayo V Galway National League match.

Autism Awareness Month 2025

To celebrate World Autism Awareness Month, Ms. Darcy's class organised a Walk for Autism, on the 2nd April. The whole school came together to take part in the walk, and to raise money for the Autism Charity 'As I Am'.

Engineers Week 2025

Engineers Week 2025 took place in the school from the 3rd - 7th March. There was lots of exciting activities happening in all the classes, and we have no doubt that we have more than a few budding engineers in the school!
Ms. O’Toole’s Junior & Senior Infants joined up with Ms. Kitson’s 5th & 6th class to design and make towers using spaghetti sticks. Ms. Costello’s Senior Infants & 1st class had great fun designing and making string telephones.
Junior Infants - 2nd class had a visit from Brickz 4 Kidz. The children got to design and make different vehicles using Lego, with everything from cars to aeroplanes on display!
3rd and 4th classes had a visit from Science Ireland, where they had a workshop on rockets. They then got to design and make their own water-powered rockets, which launched out in the yard.
5th and 6th classes had a visit to McHale’s Engineering Plant in Ballinrobe. It was fantastic opportunity for the children to see how all the different farm machinery was designed and made, and also learn about all the different sections within the company itself. We would like to say a special thank you to Laura McHale and Ger O’Shea for helping to organise the visit, and for the brilliant tour. The children had a great time, and were so well looked after between the tour, lunch in the canteen and a gift bag to take home!

Mayo hurlers visit 2025

On Friday 16th May we were very lucky to have a visit from two members of the Mayo Hurling Panel, Brendan Sheridan and Joe Burke. Both are members of our local hurling club, Moytura, and Brendan is also a past pupil of the school. There was great excitement as they brought along the Division 3 National League Hurling Trophy that they won earlier in the season. We would like to wish the
Moytura hurlers Brendan, Joe, Evan & John, who are part of the Mayo Senior Hurling Panel, the very
best of luck as they take on Roscommon in the Nicky Rackard Final in Croke Park on Saturday 31 st May

PA Easter Egg Hunt 2025

We would like to say a huge thank you to our Parents Association for organising an Easter Egg Hunt for all the classes on the day of the Easter Holidays. The children had great fun trying to find the eggs that were hidden around the yard, and even more fun hiding the eggs for the next class!

Boys Cumann na mBunscol Division 2 Semi-Final 2025

Our boys Gaelic Football team made it to the Division 2 Cumann na mBunscol county semi-final, which was played in Castlebar on Wednesday May 21st last. They put in a great performance and were unlucky to narrowly lose out to Gaelscoil Uileog de Búrca in a fantastic game of football.
We would like to thank both Mr. O’ Caoimh and Ms. Kitson for all their work in looking after both the boys and girls Gaelic Football teams throughout the year.
